Las Vegas Hiking
Trails:

Historic Railroad Tunnel Trail

One of the most interesting trails in the Las Vegas area is the least natural. The Historic Railroad Tunnel Trail in Lake Mead Recreational Area goes from its trailhead by the Lake Mead NRA entry gate to the Hoover Dam parking garage.

Wetlands Trail

Wetlands Trail is a short loop hiking trail in Lake Mead National Recreation Area that goes from a parking lot down to Las Vegas Wash, the only year-round running water in the Las Vegas desert. Why the running water in a desert? Before the city was built, springs fed the Wash, which drains into Lake Mead and the Colorado River. Now the Wash contains the city's treated runoff.

Rogers Spring Trail

The Rogers Spring Trail is a short hike at Lake Mead National Recreation Area - you can also just stop and see the spring, it's right by the parking lot for the trailhead. The trail is a three quarters of a mile loop that goes up to an overlook. In our photos, it's in the picture with no water in it - the trail goes up the hill.

Virgin River Canyon Recreation Area

Description:

Just off Interstate 15 in the Virgin River Gorge, the Virgin River Canyon Recreation Area is the only developed campground between Mesquite, Nevada and St. George, Utah. In addition to a 75 site campground, there are several short trails to hike into the Virgin River gorge.

The only downside is the I-15 noise - you can hear it over the rush of the water during the day when traffic is heaviest.
