Birmingham Mountain Biking

The BUMP mountain biking club (Birmingham Urban Mountain Pedalers) are the go-to resource for mountain biking in Birmingham. The best trails are at Oak Mountain State Park, with the 22 mile Red Trail being the main loop for cross-country mountain biking there. About fifteen minutes northeast of Birmingham off the interstate, the Trusville Sports Complex has about five miles of mountain biking trails.

There are two local mountain bike races, both put on by BUMP - Bump N' Grind at Oak Mountain State Park, and the Dead Dog at Trusville. In addition, Dirty Spokes puts on a mountain biking duathlon in conjunction with their XTERRA trail run at Oak Mountain State Park in November.

The club is in the process of building singletrack trail at Tannehill State Park.

BUMP's calendar is the best online resource. Also check the BUMP forum to see if anything new is going on.
