Lake Clark National Park and Preserve in Alaska is near Anchorage but still remote - there is no road access to the national park. To enter the park, you will need to arrange an air taxi, either wheeled or a float plane. No facilities exist within the park for camping, so be prepared for primitive camping. If you don't have experience with backcountry camping, go with a guided trip into the park.
Hiking is popular within the park, but there is only one maintained trail in the park. The park encourages visitors to find their own way and explore the wilderness of Lake Clark. If you start in Port Alnsworth, where the visitor center is, there is a 2.5 mile trail to Tanalian Falls. You can camp at the lake, a half mile past the falls.
The park offers excellent fishing. Many sport fishing guide services can help you plan out a fishing trip inside the park. You can fish on lakes, rivers, and in the salt water of Cook Inlet.
