Voyageurs National Park in northern Minnesota is a boater's paradise. The bulk of the park is only accessible by water - motorboat, canoe, or kayak. There are several land access points, but a trip to this national park should involve getting into the backcountry waters of the lakes that make up this beautiful park.
In the summer, come to the park for boating, fishing, camping and hiking. There are over 200 boat-in campsites within the park, where you can sleep next to your motorboat or canoe, with no one else around. There are no car campgrounds within the park, but there are some outside the park in the Woodenfrog State Forest campground.
In the winter, the temperature drops to below zero and the lakes and rivers freeze. This creates ideal conditions for winter activities. The park has three packed snowshoe trails, and you can even borrow snowshoes from the visitor center. There are also miles of cross country ski trails, with ski rentals also available from the visitor center.
