Houston Road Biking

The best road bike riding in Houston is outside of Houston, to the north or west. The Houston area is built up and sprawling, making it hard to find great roads with no traffic and few stop lights.

Our favorite is to head out to Sam Houston National Forest north of the city to ride some of the rollers there - the scenery is fantastic, you really feel like you've left the urban area behind, and you can be back in the loop in about an hour!

Bike Clubs and Training Groups:

Woodlands Cycling

Woodlands Cycling is a bicycle club in The Woodlands north of Houston that offers training rides for all levels, as well as social events.

Group Rides:

The Saturday Ride is one of the fastest group bicycle rides in town - check their schedule to see exactly when and where they are riding, but they list their rides on their website ahead of time. A typical ride would start at Antidote Coffee and head northeast to Lake Houston park for a 51 mile jaunt. Another ride starts at Catalina Coffee and heads north to Humble and back for 42 miles.
