Philadelphia Running

The Schuylkill River path by Boathouse Row is the place to go for running with hundreds of your closest friends. Park near the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and head out on a run along the river. When you come back, you have to run up the steps of the Art Museum for a "Rocky" finish!

When is the major marathon?:

The Philadelphia Marathon is in late November, and now sells out. The Philadelphia Marathon is a popular smaller, fast marathon, especially with runners who didn't get into the New York City Marathon.

This fun race combines German pastry and running into one crazy bike path marathon or half marathon along Pennypack Creek in North Philadelphia. The organizers reserve every right to cancel the full marathon if it gets too hot - June can be a very humid time to run in Philly, and no one wants to get hurt!

The Philadelphia Marathon is a great combination of a big city marathon with a smaller starting field and a not too hilly course. Philadelphia doesn't have a lottery system like New York, but the marathon does sell out in advance.
