Some of the best places to run in Savannah are Lake Mayer and the bridge - join the Savannah Striders - http://www.savystrider.com/ - for one of their group runs to see either route.

Running Routes: 

McQueen's Island Historic Trail

The rails to trail follows the bed of the historic Savannah-Tybee Island Railroad for six miles near Fort Pulaski National Monument on Tybee Island. It's probably not the best surface for running, as its pretty soft calcite gravel, but it does change things up from running on the roads.

The Savannah Rock and Roll Marathon and Half is in November, and it's new for 2011!

Critz Tybee Run Fest

The Critz Tybee Run Festival is now a 5K on Friday night, a 10K, half marathon, 1-mile run, and 2.8 mile beach run on Saturday - now you can do all five events, or just as many as you want!

Savannah doesn't have a ton of specialty footwear retailers - but that's ok, because Fleet Feet Savannah carries a pretty wide range of footwear. They also provide fitness services like Vo2Max testing, sponsor local races, and help you find the shoe that actually works for your running style.

They are closed on Sundays though, so go on Saturday if you need something for your Sunday run.
