The Wolf Mountain Trail is a nice 7.5 mile lollipop loop in Pedernales Falls State Park. This is one of the easiest longer hikes in the Austin area, and is very suitable for beginning hikers or mountain bikers. Intermediate and advanced mountain bikers won't be challenged by the jeep roads on the trail.

The trailhead is just past the contact station/visitor center on the right. There is a small parking lot, and a sign marking the trailhead. This is the start of the out and back, and is on a wide trail that heads out to Pedernales Falls' primitive camping area and the lollipop loop. Stay to the left when you pass the primitive camping bathroom.

You'll drop in and out of several small creeks - even if it has been raining, they aren't very likely to have any water in them. The jeep road will continue to Jones Spring, where there are some interesting historical artifacts. Take a right turn and enjoy a mile of fun singletrack, until you pop back out onto more jeep road.

You'll have a choice of which direction to go around Wolf Mountain on the jeep road - take the left side for the best views. Coming around Wolf Mountain, you'll come back to the primitive camping bathroom - to go back to the parking lot, take a left.
