Silverman is regarded as the toughest iron-distance (140.6) triathlon in the United States. In 2010, the race switched swim venues from Lake Mead to Lake Las Vegas. Lake Las Vegas is much more spectator friendly, with shops and restaurants for spectators, and the Loews resort for participants.
